In more recent years, all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and utility task vehicles (UTVs) have seen a surge in popularity and upgrades. While both are mainly gas powered, with the recent rise of electric vehicles, a few companies such as DRR USA, Massimo, and Coleman Powersports have begun to roll out electric versions of these two off-roaders. At Aberdeen EV Repair, we can service either of these electric vehicles, with a whole team of professional mechanics specializing in electric ATV and UTV repair.
What are ATVs and UTVs?
ATVs and UTVs are both off-road vehicles with similar designs, but with different functions. For instance, as a UTV is mostly used for hauling equipment and heavy materials, they are larger and heavier, with either four or six wheels, and have better towing capability and more safety features – such as a roll cage for rollover protection – than an ATV. ATVs are typically used for recreational off-roading, such as trail riding, and are therefore smaller, lighter, and have less seating room, with a varying number of wheels – either three, four, or six. ATVs can often only sit one to two riders, while UTVs can have between two and six. Seating arrangements are also different – an ATV is straddled like a motorcycle, while a UTV is more like a car. ATVs are steered with handlebars, also like a motorcycle, while UTVs have a steering wheel.
